| who really know. Me and Tony took my ams mani's and his ms's and compared them. Vertually identical. Although there were some miner diffrences, thicker in some areas on the ms's vs the ams and vise versa thicker with the ams in some areas vs the ms's. I guess the only realy way to tell is to put it on a dino with the exact same setup and see which one comes out on top... | |

| it's more of a ethics thing.but i do know the AMS mani's are made from a less quality aluminum.and some have said that the bolt placements make securing one almost impossible.and the gaskets are cheap.if you're looking for the full story just search for it on tt.net you'll find pages apon pages. | |

| I'll post more on this later but the MSP manifolds are the clear winners. The chart you linked to is a bunch of garbage. There is another chart out there with it actually attached to heads. I'll dig it out later when I get back from work. | |

| Honestly if i had the more money i would have gone with the mike smith manie's. I hope i dont have to many problems with the AMS but only time will tell. I have some stock gaskets that game with the engine rebuild kit, hopefully its ports are big enough and if so then i will use the nissan oem ones. | |

ams ground out the ports larger than the stock opening thats how "they aren't a stolen carbon copy of MS mani's" or so they say. as said before there's tons of back story out there to find.

| It is so slightly modified that it isn't enough to consider it a fresh product. | |

| i agree when we put them side by side with the MS manis they looked almost identical. Same weight, port size, etc. Its pretty much just a knock off. hate me or love me but i had so much money to get what i needed to get this project done....if i had known about the discount for the ms mani's i would have gotten those. Maybe ill reap what i sew when i install them but hopefully theyll do fine. | |

i completely understand the appeal and i don't judge you on the purchase. i judge the company for lack of ethics involved in stealing a design that took a huge amount of time and money to make just to have them carbon copied in china and sold as their own. money is tight and people will have to do what they can with what they have.before when it was 1100 for MS and 700 for AMS people had to make a choice on what they could afford as well. but now with the group buy and MS mani's selling for 650 hopefully people will be able to dish out a little more for the original owner of the product.

| this is slightly off topic, but i am curious. i was talking to reid a couple weeks ago about how some AMS products (specifically these manifolds) are near copies of other makes. i recently bought the four piece AMS pulley set; are they "knock-offs" from another brand as well? reid also bought them and he said his AMS UD pulley felt a few pounds lighter than his other aftermarket UD pulley, so i'm sure they're a good choice. and it was $344 for pulleys/new Nissan belts. | |

| most of the pulley sets are copies nowadays..back in the day there were only a handfull of suppliers for them.i personally have the ASP crank pulley from kyle@IPP it's only .3oz heavier than the $220 UD design and was $125.you shouldn't have any problems out of the pulleys.main thing is that the timing marks are correct on the crank one. | |
