What should I do about the reunion. Opinions please!

Hi everyone. My 20th high school reunion is the 2nd of August and I have spent the past four and a half
months working out like a maniac for it. I slimmed down, toned up, and bought a gorgeous black
cocktail dress with black dressy sandals to match. The reunion is going to be held on boat cruise around the harbor
near Atlantic City, and includes dinner, a DJ for dancing, and drinks. Get this, the idiots planning this thing sent out
a message today saying it's to be a Hawaiian theme and to dress casual. Oh and please RSVP. These jerks only
sent out a notice about the event two and a half weeks ago and now less than two weeks away they send out a notice
saying wear Hawaiian clothes. Are they nuts??? I've already spent 220 bucks on the dress, alterations for the dress, and shoes at this point, not to mention the flight tickets for my son and I to go home in the first place. I don't know that I have
time or money to buy some crappy floral dress.
Here's my question: Should I just go with the dress I have even though it will be too dressy or cancel altogether? My friend and I are going together and be both bought similar clothing. I told her we should go with what we planned and screw the last minute bs about attire. But, I want your advice. I'm so ticked off about this it isn't even funny.

They should of mentioned the theme in the initial invitation...

Go with what you planned, you'll look that much more unobtainable next to the rest of the frumpy crowd

this isn't so hard to fix.. go get sunless tanning sprayed at a salon and get something Caribbean style outfit thats still showing up your hard work but on the fun side...and that is about as gay as i am ever gonna sound so enjoy it.

That is messed up!!! I think there is an easy fix though, just wear a pretty hawaiian lei neckalce with the dress you bought! & maybe throw a little flower in ur hair You can have the sexy black hawaiian cocktail dress look

I agree with Amy... That would be a nice look and nobody else will prolly do that... Plus its always fun getting leid!

3rd. Wear the black dress and knock 'em dead. Yeah, add the lei for the "theme" for as long as you have/want to...
