And the tooling and investment to do a drastic change a design (body style) is not economical .. the current design - is a compromise. I agree... The 370Z will probably have about the same variation from the 350 as between the 280Z and 280ZX. My initial guess was a 380Z, with the Z getting a mass produced NA version of the GT-R engine. It seemed to me like the most logical progression in Z development since the VQ35/37 is about tapped out -- pretty much at the end limit, whereas the VR38 has a lot of future development possibilities. The only way to go further with the VQ35/37 is to turbo it, and then we start hitting the same overprice brick wall that brought the Z32 to a premature demise in the US. Looking at the JDM, the Z32 had an unusually long model life cycle, as did the S30.

Have to offer a different point of view there... Maybe the s30 crowd (a stretch) but most certainly not the z32 crowd. I know very few z32 owners who like the 350/370z... No offense to 350 owners or 350/z32 owners, but there's no visceral jump there for those who love the z32 lines to get a quickened pulse out of the 350. Just isn't there.
Now the GT-R.... <pant, pant> LOL... Drive my '03 and you'll get a quickened pulse (and an adrenaline rush). My oldest son took it for a little spin the other day, and came back a babbling pile of quivering Jello -- he got the adrenaline rush big time. To me, every Z has its own endearling qualities, even the Z31 has a character all its own, despite being maligned heavily by the S30 crowd when it first came out. I still think the Z32 has the timeless classic styling not found in any of the other Z models. The Z33 is pretty chunky, but she has a nice tush -- overall, I think Nissan took a stab at one-upping the classic Porsche. When the Z33 first came out, everyone kept thinking it was a new Porsche. At least that was the most common question I got when there were only a few Z33s in town. Now the GT-R is the "Hummer" of the supercars -- it's brutally massive and intimidating. It just flat dominates it's surroundings just sitting there. And we all know what it does when you put the pedal to the metal. Although it's close to the same size as a G-37C, the G37C looks like a game of pattycake by comparison. I think one new GT-R owner described it best when he said the GT-R was a "violent" car. I chose black to make it even more menacing -- the GT-R isn't a car, it's a weapon.
