Do you have the datascan working yet? I haven't played with it enough to know everything you can do with it but I know someone who does.... Justin. I'll pm you his email and maybe he can give you a few tips to look for, either that or I'll just invite him over here!

| so i finally got around to doing what i should have a LONG time ago.. ran a ECU self diag. code 12- MAS/MAF alright. hopefully this is an easy fix. decided to try and borrow brandons known good MAF (he shows code 55-all good) i brought along my MAF and decided first to try it on his. if it was indeed bad, then his would also show 12 correct? took off his sensor, plugged mine in, warmed it up then shut it down. still code 55 on his car. crap. so my MAF is good. i didnt bother taking his back to my place. where the heck does that MAF sensor harness end up at? how do i go about checking that wiring now? guess i could try to remove corrosion.. if any.. but the sensor side looks mint. no residue. to dark cold and wet out now. | |

| heres the scan at idle. quite high.. tony and i were messing with the TPS last time under the hood. BUTT if timing is supposed to be set at 15.. wholly krap! why so high here? when i rev the motor it climbs some more. ques.. when you ADVANCE your timing arent you actually lowering the number? like going from 15 to 13? i have a 2min vid also.. but that wont upload till LATEr tonight. super stressed/aggravated/frustrated right now.. plus i have to deal with wifee when i get back in the house AND pack get ready for a trip to DISNEY @ 5 in the morning -.- | |

| my timing was hovering there as well, but I'm SURE mine is correct so I had the same question. I was thinking my timing was retarded because of my code 34 (knock sensor) but Dan the man checked my timing at the last FZX meet and declared it good. | |

| Per justin, in reference to the NDS screen shot above:
"Throttle voltage says .71v If the car is really @ idle in that screen cap and the throttle plates are closed then it should only read .4 - .5v (i have mine set to .44v) The reason the timing is off is b/c the ecu thinks the throttle is open...the ignition timing is only supposed to be 15 if the car is idling. He needs to adjust the TPS."

Are you saying the throttle plate's not closed or his TPS needs to be adjusted? If you look at the green and red indicators at the bottom, 'Closed TPS' is OFF.

| yes yes and yes! lol jah thanks steve.. still here in Fl.. and saddened that Ms Kelly does not want to meet up with me no, j/k too far out of the way for both of us but im on the way home now just spending the night in Jax Fl, taking adv of the base military rates vs the @$$ raping at the disney resort. ANYWAY!before running the data scan, the car had not been run for about a week or two. i idled the car in the driveway for maybe 5min before driving around the block twice. pulled back in the driveway THEN plugged up and then did not touch the gas at all during that print screen shot. my Vid wouldnt upload when i recorded revving it to 2 and 3K. we were messing with the TPS.. what should i 'zero' it against, next time get under the hood? | |

So I'd say adjust the TPS so that the sensor reads between 0.4 and 0.5V instead of the 0.71V that you are seeing now.
Might also want to verify that the throttle plate is truly closed as well.

| hahahaha Jagger you are one cool dude!
So yeah, get that TPS where it belongs and move on to the next problem... Wish I could take time off to come down and help though I am particularly worthless at multi-dimensional problems you really need Justin for this or <gasp> DAN...
Keep the cable as long as you need it, buddy. The screen shots are helpful.

timing settles to 15 once the car is warm. So TPS looks to be in the right place at idle, what's cockeye about it?
