I followed YugoBernie's list of McMaster strut replacement parts and instructions on tt.net, some of which I'll list here:
Parts list in the tt.net FAQ:
- Quote :
4x 9416K87 13mm ball socket
4x 9512k83 13mm ball studs
1x 9416k82 package of 13mm safety clips
2x 9416k21 13mm struts (10.24 long for coupe)
or
2x 9416k22 13mm struts (12.8 long for 2+2)
When you enter the list into the McMaster web site, they make substitutions and you actually end up with

4x 9512K18 13mm ball studs
1x 9416k82 package of 13mm safety clips

or
2x 9416K394 13mm struts (12.8 long for 2+2)
Two observations which may be helpful for others doing this fix:
1. The 13mm ball studs as listed do NOT have the same thread pitch as stock, so when you go to screw them into the stock locations, you basically have to re-thread the hole. I was really uncomfortable doing this but I was basically stuck with the old struts off and no way to know if metric threaded ball studs were even available from McMaster.
2. I ordered the 125# struts for my 2+2 hatch plus 94+ wing. My hatch now opens fully when I release the latch, and takes quite a bit of effort to pull back down. I think 100# struts would have been plenty.
Hope this helps!
